The third battle on here is listed as “Jefferson City”, but I can’t find any details on that battle. Could that be the Battle of Boonville? Any Civil War Buffs out there?

  1. Not a Civil War buff, but I’ve taught a little Missouri history before. I believe General Nathaniel Lyon captured Jefferson City in June of 1861 which forced Confederate General Sterling Price to retreat to the southwest part of the state. I don’t know if there really was a battle in the capital or not. The two met at Wilson’s Creek in August of that year in the largest civil war battle in Missouri. Although Price won the battle and Lyon was killed, the Union kept control of Missouri.
