		<description>I don&#039;t think the rise of a third party will happen.  McCain still got 48% of the vote, after all.  The whole US system is also set up such that it collapses to two-parties, which generally makes it easier to reform an existing one than start fresh.

		<description>Yeah, those seem like the best options for the GOP. 

The third possibility is that for the next couple elections they fail to show any growth and eventually get replaced by a third party that follows one of the routes above. 

I like that one for its symbolic value: the literal death of the Republican party as we know it.</description>
